Ambulance rally

NAWALPARASI: An ambulance rally was staged protesting  against on going petroleum crises in kawasoti,Nawalparasi on Tuesday. The rally commenced from Nepal Red cross socity, kawasoti sub-branch and ended at Area Administration office. Babu Ram Kadel ,chairman of Nawalpur Ambulance Operation Management committee, said they had to resort to protest as they could not use their ambulance due to fuel crunch. He said,"Our ambulances have been gathering dust to fuel crises. The Government does not seem serious about operating even essential means of transport".

Ryan and Moira Goepfert were elated when they were selected for student housing at Columbia University. The move would put them in a renovated doorman building across from campus, and it would save them $600 a month in rent. But after Mr. Goepfert visited the quiet hallways of the university building, the couple turned down the offer. “Almost 100 percent of the reason was our daughter, Grace, and the relationships she’s built on our floor,” said Mr. Goepfert, 34, who is pursuing a degree at Columbia’s School of General Studies. The Goepferts live in a one-bedroom rental on West 119th Street in  Harlem . Their floor has six children between the ages of 4 months and 7 years and the family next door has a baby on the way. ISLAMABAD:  Days before Pakistan’s powerful army chief was due to visit Washington for talks on regional stability and fighting militancy, General Raheel Sharif engaged in thinly veiled criticism of the nuclear-armed country’s civilian government. A terse statement from the army’s PR wing underlined the tension between Pakistan’s military and its civilian government, just as the United States prepares to receive Sharif weeks after the prime minister held talks there. After top generals met to review a major crackdown on extremists, the Pakistani military said it would be “undermined” if the government did not take “matching governance initiatives”.
