KATHMANDU: Nepal national cricket coach Pubudu Dassanayake put in papers on Tuesday.
The Acting President of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Deepak Koirala, confirmed that Dassanayake resigned.
It has been learned that Dassanayake, whose contract would end on December 31, however, has showed readiness to bear his responsibilities till November 18.
Nepal are playing against Papua New Guinea in the World Cricket League Championship matches in Dubai on November 16 and 18.
“We will discuss his resignation in the board meeting and take appropriate decision,” he said.
“Sad to see news about Paras in Annapurna post today…politics has got over the hill,” Dassanayake had written on his Facebook account earlier today, expressing dissatisfaction over the politics in the Nepali cricket.
The former Sri Lankan wicket keeper was hired in September 2011 and his contract was renewed repeatedly. He made immediate impact and brought glory to Nepali cricket, with the national team winning three titles apart from the maiden World Twenty20 appearance.
Ministry of Youth and Sports, which offered him the one-year contract after CAN released him citing financial constraint, on June 23 extended the deal till the end of this year.
