This is the babyface suspected hacker arrested in connection with an alleged data theft from TalkTalk.
The boy, 15, was seized after a raid at his family home in the wake of the cyber-attack – one of the biggest to have hit the UK.
It has emerged that the teenager wanted to be a professional video gamer.
Neighbours in Ballymena, Co Antrim, said six police vehicles swooped on Monday afternoon. One, who did not want to be named, said: “It is just mad. I knew nothing about it until I came home and saw all the police just before 5pm.
“They were there for ages. They seemed to be giving the place a good going over . Then they left with bags of equipment.”
Friends said the teenager was “quiet and shy” and was often seen with a skateboard. Kathy Haveron, 39, said his family was “good”, adding: “They’re quiet.”
The youngster, who had said online he wanted to be a pro gamer, was released on bail pending further enquiries.
Communications giant TalkTalk admitted last week the details of four millionexisting and previous customers were at risk after security was breached. But shares in the company rose 13% yesterday as it took a tough stance on customers now wanting to leave for free.
It said it would only waive termination fees if customers could prove they had cash stolen as a direct result of the hack.
Consumer site Which? said TalkTalk was doing the “bare minimum ”. But the move eased investor fears that the firm faced a customer exodus.
